Has anyone considered buying an M1 Pro, M1 Max Macbook?

Has anyone actually bought an M1 Pro, M1 Max Macbook?

If so, what is it like?

Yes, very strongly considering a new Macbook, but might wait for an M2 Macbook Air.

I’m considering an M1 Macbook Air, I just can’t sell my existing laptop yet.

Can you get a trade-in for your existing laptop?

I don’t think so, it is a Windows laptop.

In that article is a link to Apple’s trade-in policy: https://www.apple.com/shop/trade-in

I used their wizard, and received a message:

Based on what you’ve told us, your computer is ready to recycle.
While it doesn’t qualify for a gift card, just send it to us and we’ll recycle it for free.

      🙁

Wow, I see what you mean, that’s really weird. I hope you sell it another way.

Looks like a nice laptop. Why do you want to get rid of it?

It is a nice laptop, and I like it, I just think I’m ready for a change to a modern MacBook. I have a 2015 MacBook Air, which I like too.

Why not stick with the 2015 Macbook?

It can probably handle macOS Monterey.

I want to learn to build mobile apps for Android and iOS, and a fast processor radically decreases the time it takes to build the apps, both for testing & for production.

The Macbook Air is pretty slow, which is frustrating.

As I said, I’ll probably wait for the M2 Macbook Air, or for the price of the M1 Macbook Air to decrease when the M2 version comes out.

Why not use your Windows laptop for mobile applications? That is a more modern laptop…

Hi Robby, because only macOS can build & test iOS apps.

I went into the local Apple store but wasn’t blown away by the 14″ & !6″ Macbook Pros. The caveat is that I wasn’t able to test the CPU/CPU in any meaningful way as there was no access to sudo.

I think I will still sell my Lenovo laptop, but put the money toward my business.

I heard a rumour with next year’s M2, Apple will be releasing an “M2 MacBook” which will sit between the MacBook Air & MacBook Pro.

That sounds like something I would buy. Thanks!
